Matt and Anna were married at the UBC Boathouse in Richmond on August 31, 2015… two days after the Lower Mainland’s storm of the decade! The UBC Boathouse is a such a unique venue and these two didn’t mind the close proximity to the airport as they are both pilots!

The day before the wedding Peter and I were still without power as were many other Lower Mainland households.  Luckily we were able to go to my Mom’s house (she still had power) to back up files (from the wedding we shot the day before) and charge batteries. Our power returned the morning of the wedding, so we didn’t have to go looking shabby (without the chic) 🙂

The day of the big event was raining but the winds had subsided, Peter and I had had shot Matt and Anna’s Stanley Park engagement shoot a few months earlier and we felt we had used up all of our ‘weather luck’ at that time. Under a stormy sky and buckets of rain coming down, we started the day taking photos of Anna at her parent’s lovely heritage home.

Once arriving at the UBC Boathouse, we got a few photos of the nervous but excited Matt before the indoor ceremony. Both Matt and Anna took the weather in stride knowing that the most important thing was the two of them becoming husband and wife.

As luck would have it, and as this couple deserved, we got a break in the weather after the ceremony. The rain stopped and we were able to take some photos with the most amazing sky I have seen. We had a fantastic time with Matt, Anna, and their loved ones at the reception capturing their memories. By the end of the night, we felt like we were old friends!
