Belly to baby… John & Vicky

I love to hear from our past brides & grooms when a little bundle is on the way!

Peter and I had the pleasure of shooting John & Vicky’s wedding in 2013 and we were happy to meet up with them again to capture this special time in their lives.

It was a cold, rainy, February day for the baby bump shoot, and fortunately we did not postpone as little Kayla Mei was born a week later much to John & Vicky’s surprise and delight.

I got to meet this darling little girl when she was 3 weeks old. But since she was 3 weeks early, she was truly still like a brand new bundle! She was a perfect angel for her shoot and I enjoyed my afternoon with this newly blessed family.

Belly to baby… Brittni, Chris & baby Jayden

It was a true joy to capture this special time for Brittni & Chris. First a maternity session at Deer Lake Park to document the growing (but still tiny) baby bump.

Then bump becomes baby… baby Jayden. It was so fun to spend a morning with the new parents, they are 100% smitten with their new little delight!

This poem meant so much to me when I first became the mother of a son, it took a long time before I could read with a dry eye… for you Brittni.

“My baby boy and me”

It’s three am, they’re all asleep, and no one is here to see.
As we rock slowly back and forth, my baby boy and me.
His little hand is feather light tucked up against my chin.
I hold his tiny hand in mine, and stroke his baby skin.
The house about us creaks and groans, the clock hands creep around.
He snuggles closer to me still, and makes his baby sounds.
I love these quiet hours so much, and cherish every one.
Store memories up inside my heart for lonely nights to come.
All too soon he’ll be grown up, his need for Mama gone.
But until then I still have time for kisses and for song.
Time for quiet hours like this with him cuddled in my arms.
Where I wish he’d always stay protected, safe and warm.
And yet I know the day will come when his tiny little hand,
will be bigger than my own. He’ll grow to be a man.
But until then he’s mine to love with no one here to see.
As we rock slowly back and forth, my baby boy and me.
