Long time no blog… (shooting rings).
It is a RAINY Vancouver day. Our photo walk on parking garages (not kidding!) and an evening photo shoot were postponed due to the weather. Kudos to anyone out there shooting today, but my busy Saturday turned into a free day.
What to do… ring shots! I find my macro lens a challenge but the best way to overcome that is practise. I used to always make sure my ISO was at a reasonable level and then I was using a fairly wide aperture. I was never really getting the look I wanted. I recently watched Susan Stripling (wedding photographer/instructor) on Creativelive and she had some really great tips for shooting rings and other details. I had been shooting my ring shots too wide open, so I closed down, raised the ISO and with a little help from my Ice Light…viola. Pretty happy with the results!
