Alexis & Shirin married on a softly overcast day in October at the elegant Pinnacle Pier Hotel on the North Shore. This was a 3rd wedding in a group of friends that have all chosen us to capture their wedding day. We photographed Tim & and Andrea in 2012 and they recommended us to John & Vicky in 2013, who recommended us to Alexis & Shirin in 2014. We are always so pleased when friends of a bride & groom like us so much that they hire us in the years afterwards.
After Shirin got ready in the hotel, Alexis came to meet her there for a first look of his beautiful bride. The moment was truly special. The pier is rustic and charming, and we had lots of time for photos before going back inside the hotel for the Canadian and Persian wedding ceremonies. This was the first Persian wedding we have shot and the details of the sofreh were stunning!
After the love and hugs from family and friends, we stole Alexis and Shirin away for a few photos on the stylish staircase of the hotel’s lobby. The bride & groom then took a well deserved breather while the guests enjoyed cocktails and canapes.
The reception started with Alexis & Shirin entering behind the Pars National Ballet, an Iranian folklore dance company. After dancing with the bride & groom the ladies continued with a skilled performance that entertained everyone in the room.
This wedding was the most joyous of celebrations, with words of love and support from both sets of parents. The Persian custom of the knife dance was good-natured teasing, the groom had to purchase the knife to cut the cake and was refused until he came up with an acceptable sum of money. Once the cake was cut, it was time to dance! I have never seen a more full dance floor… so much fun!
Alexis & Shirin, we wish that all the happiness and joy on your wedding day remains with you for all the days to come! بخت خوب
